HOW DO ESD HEEL STRAPS WORK?
ESD Heel straps are used to protect the wearer from ESD within the EPA. Just like wrist straps, heel grounders discharge static to the ground. A ribbon, connected to the grounder, is slotted into the user’s sock or shoe, creating a connection to the user’s skin through perspiration. The charge travels through the ribbon, through the grounder and into the floor. Heel grounder can be applied to regular shoes and should be used in conjunction with ESD protected flooring for maximum protection.
Designed to be visible in an ESD safe working area. Useful in helping supervisors identify that they are fitted correctly, even from a distance due to their fluorescent colour. Incorporating a simple snap release making them easy to take on and off. Durable and ideal for long term use. Suitable for hand washing in mild detergent. The vibrant colour will remain visible for the lifetime of the product.
Ideal for use in conjunction with all ESD flooring or matting. Each heel strap incorporates a 1 Meg Ohm safety resistor. A heel strap should be worn on both feet.
Overall resistivity of 10⁶ Ohms. Outer conductive surface has a resistivity of 10³ – 10⁵ Ohms. Inner anti-static surface has 10⁷ – 10⁸ Ohms. Conductive tab offers 10³ – 10⁴ Ohms.
Conforms to the requirements of ANSI/ESD S 20.20 and EIA 625. Should be tested periodically using a ESD test station
